Two of the four places on this list are downtown, within a block of each other on South White and Brooks streets. The other two are out toward Heritage: Mellow Mushroom on South Main Street and Dairy Depot on Rogers Road. Downtown is also a social district, so you can carry a drink in a marked cup between some businesses.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Wake Forest’s town limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. A place is on this list only if its own site says or shows that it has a patio or outdoor seating; an OpenStreetMap tag or a customer review is not enough, so several places tagged for outdoor seating are not here. The places
Bodega Tapas & Wine serves globally inspired tapas downtown. Reservations are encouraged for parties of six or fewer, but its bar seats, high-top tables and patio tables are first come, first served, its site says.
Dairy Depot is an independent ice cream shop that invites customers to eat on its patio or use the drive-thru. It serves soft-serve cones, shakes, sundaes and its “Train Wrecks.”
Mellow Mushroom is the pizza chain’s South Main Street restaurant. Its location page lists a patio and a private room, and delivery.
Norse Brewing Company is a downtown brewery with a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen that serves breakfast all day. The photo gallery on its site shows an exterior patio.
Downtown places such as Black & White Coffee Roasters, George’s Pizzeria, The Burger Shop and Wake Forest Coffee Company are tagged for outdoor seating in OpenStreetMap, but their own sites did not mention it when we checked, so they are not on the list.
