Wake Forest’s public schools are run by the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), from its central office at 5625 Dillard Drive in Cary. Customer Service is 919-431-7400 and Student Assignment, which handles school zones, is 919-431-7333. WCPSS assigns every address a base elementary, middle and high school, and zones do not follow town limits or mailing addresses. Homes in the Franklin County part of town are served by Franklin County Schools, 919-496-2600; we did not find an address lookup on that district’s enrollment page, so call to confirm a school.

In our Oct. 12 check of 1,000 homes spread across the Wake County part of Wake Forest, drawn from Wake County property records and run through the district’s base school lookup:

  • High school: 695 were assigned to Wake Forest High, 297 to Heritage High and 8 to Wakefield High in Raleigh.

  • WCPSS base school lookup: enter an address, or browse the base attendance area map
  • Proposed 2027-28 assignments: the proposal lookup; none of the 1,000 homes in our check would change schools under the draft plan. The Board of Education holds a public hearing Oct. 20 and is scheduled to vote Nov. 17.
  • Magnet, early college and year-round applications: open Oct. 15 on the district’s enrollment page
  • Charter schools: no zones; each admits by its own application and lottery

Each school below has its own page with the principal, bell times, calendar and report card. The tables list the WCPSS schools with campuses in Wake Forest and the schools in Raleigh and Rolesville that our address check found serving parts of town; the town a campus sits in is shown when it is not Wake Forest. Enrollment is the state’s average daily membership for 2024-25, and the state grade is North Carolina’s 2024-25 School Performance Grade, the latest in the state’s downloadable data. Wakefield Middle and North Forest Pines Elementary, in Raleigh, each drew fewer than 10 homes in our check and do not have their own pages. For district calendars, enrollment dates and the school board, see our Wake Forest schools guide.
