There are no tours on Halloween itself; the 2026 run ends Friday, Oct. 30. Each tour takes at most 20 people, so popular nights sell out. On Oct. 25 the town’s page said tickets “will remain available until sold out” and listed no sold-out tours; check Eventbrite for the night you want.
What the tour is
Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. (WFD), the nonprofit that promotes the downtown, presents the walks with Firebox Theatre Company. The town’s announcement says the storytellers cover “tragic train wrecks, frightening folklore, and restless spirits” from more than 100 years of downtown history. The 2026 tour keeps some favorite stories from last year and adds new material. The walks are a fundraiser for WFD, which is why every attendee, children included, needs a ticket.
The route stays in the business district, mostly along South White Street. It does not include the private homes along North and South Main streets.
Tickets
- $20 a person, sold through Eventbrite until each tour sells out. 2026 tickets went on sale at noon Tuesday, Sept. 8.
- Advance only: tickets are not sold at the meeting point.
- No refunds or transfers, except when a tour is canceled for severe weather.
- Waiver: every walker signs an activity waiver at check-in; a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18. The town page prints the full wording.
Parking and getting there
Tours meet outside Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., one block west of South White Street, and start promptly. The accessible parking for downtown events is in the Town Hall lot, according to the town’s event parking page. The town also points downtown visitors to free spaces on side streets and in public lots, and warns that some lots that look public, such as the Renaissance Plaza lot, are private. Read the signs. Go Wake Forest riders and rideshare drivers can use Town Hall as the drop-off point.
What to know
- Rain or shine. Bring an umbrella; only severe weather cancels a tour, with refunds.
- Leave pets at home. The organizers ask that no pets come on the walk.
- Comfortable shoes. The tour is on foot for about 75 minutes on downtown sidewalks.
- Be on time. Tours leave Town Hall at the scheduled minute.
- Younger children are welcome at their parents’ discretion, but the stories and the length are why the organizers suggest ages 8 and up.
