Wake Forest police charged a Raleigh police officer with six counts, including assaulting a Wake County EMT, after a disturbance at Carolina Ale House on Oct. 6.
Wake Forest police arrested a Raleigh police officer early Tuesday, Oct. 6, after a disturbance at a restaurant on Northpark Drive. He was charged with assaulting a Wake County emergency medical technician and five other counts.
The Wake Forest Police Department gave the account in a town release the same day. Everything below is as the department described it.
What police said happened
Officers were called to the Carolina Ale House, 11685 Northpark Drive, just after 2:15 a.m. on a report of an intoxicated person.
The department said the restaurant manager had asked the man to leave a few minutes earlier for disruptive behavior, including bothering employees and customers. As he left, police said, he tried to hit two customers on separate occasions and then assaulted the manager.
Officers found him a short time later walking along Capital Boulevard, U.S. 1. Police said he had cuts and scrapes from trying to jump a barbed wire fence. They said he refused an officer’s instructions and then assaulted a Wake County EMT.
The charges
The department identified him as Christopher Andre Reed, 32, of Raleigh, and said he is a Raleigh police officer. He was charged with:
- assault causing physical injury to emergency personnel
- resisting a public officer
- intoxicated and disruptive
- disorderly conduct
- simple assault
- assault of a government official
He was taken to the Wake County Detention Center. The release did not give a bond amount or a court date, and did not say whether the Raleigh Police Department had taken any action.
An arrest or charge is an accusation. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in court.
