Wake Forest Power
Wake Forest Power runs an automated outage system on one number, 919-435-9478, according to its outage page. The same line takes payments, starts and stops service, reconnects service and logs streetlight outages. The system recognizes up to two phone numbers on your account, so call customer service at that number during office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, to update them before a storm.
- Outage map: a red dot marks each outage, sized by the number of customers affected, with the duration. A Report Outage button sits in the top right corner.
- Alerts: turn on Wake Forest Power push notifications in the Town of Wake Forest app.
- Planned outages: posted on Wake Forest Power’s Facebook page and Nextdoor, and now with temporary yard signs, its planned outages page says. The most recent, on Sept. 17, moved customers along Rogers Road to a new circuit ahead of the Rogers Road railroad bridge project. Questions about planned work: 919-435-9573.
Recent outages. In one week in July, the town reported a downed tree on power lines that closed Jenkins Road (July 21), an outage affecting more than 1,300 customers that was fixed by 12:48 p.m. (July 22) and a downtown outage the town blamed on a squirrel (July 23), according to its Wake Forest Power news.

Duke Energy customers can report outages by texting OUT to 57801, online at duke-energy.com, in the Duke Energy app or through its automated line, 800-769-3766 (800-POWERON), according to a Duke Energy release. Register for text outage alerts to get restoration estimates.
Wake Electric
Wake Electric says the quickest way to report an outage is its SmartHub app; members can also call 855-280-1147 and follow the outage map, according to its outage page. Treat any downed line as live and report it.
